Shiv ratri

Well i saw Gurudev's live Shivratri telecast on sanskar. The whole ground had turned into a sea of people...Well done Kerala!

What really brought tears to my eyes was that the ramp was almost constructed till the end of the ground (I could see the car parking on the screen) and Gurudev walked the whole length of it, for the people, right after His bhava! Somewhere I was pained also to see Him walk so much.He is doing soooo much ( i rather say everything) for all of us smilingly/unconditionally....
Am I doing something for the country /society ? Ponder over it !

Luv,
Kanchan

Slumdog Millionaire

Kudos to A.R. Rahman and Gulzar for bringing the Oscars to India ! Resul Pookutty also made India proud ! Accolades to "Smile Pinki" as well for winning the Oscar in best documentary category.

Well Slumdog Millionaire also won Golden Globe Awards!

I saw Slumdog Millionaire en route to Bangalore in Volvo !! The movie ,released a month late in India , lost theatrical revenues to pirated versions.Wondering whether making it tax-free now would make much of a difference?

It "seems" a pretty "realistic" film ..Seen some of them earlier also.

On another note, I was wondering, is it really the complete picture of India or just a part of the picture of urbane lower income group/people below poverty-line in India or more specifically Mumbai? On the global platform, isn't this the way India has been dished out since very long ? Lot of westerns still think India primarily as the land of elephants and snake-charmers.Well thanks to the western media and our own media people. Are there no slums in any other part of the world or no beggars anywhere else ? But somehow they seem fascinated by this aspect of ours.

In any case, I am very happy for the child actors in the movie really dwelling in slums ...Hopefully they will now have better education and better life :-)

Saw the hoardings and posters of another movie Luck by Chance...

...Jai Ho

P.S : Actually had written the post partially on 19Th but didn't get to post it then

recession....

This Story is about a man who once upon a time was selling hot-dogs by the roadside. He was illiterate, so he never read newspapers. He was hard of hearing, so he never listened to the radio. His eyes were weak, so he never watched television. But enthusiastically, he sold lots of hot-dogs. He was smart enough to offer some attractive schemes to increase his sales. His sales and profit went up. He ordered more a more raw material and buns and use to sale more. He recruited few more supporting staff to serve more customers. He started offering home deliveries. Eventually he got himself a bigger and better stove. As his business was growing, the son, who had recently graduated from College, joined his father. Then something strange happened. The son asked, "Dad, aren't you aware of the great recession that is coming our way?" The father replied, "No, but tell me about it." The son said, "The international situation is terrible. The domestic situation is even worse. We should be prepared for the coming bad times." The man thought that since his son had been to college, read the papers, listened to the radio and watched TV. He ought to know and his advice should not be taken lightly. So the next day onwards, the father cut down the his raw material order and buns, took down the colourful signboard, removed all the special schemes he was offering to the customers and was no longer as enthusiastic. He reduced his staff strength by giving layoffs. Very soon, fewer and fewer people bothered to stop at his hotdog stand. And his sales started coming down rapidly, same is the profit. The father said to his son, "Son, you were right”. “We are in the middle of a recession and crisis. I am glad you warned me ahead of time."

Moral of The Story: It’s all in your MIND! And we actually FUEL this recession much more than we think we do!!!!!!!!!!!!

What can we take away from this story??
1. How many times we confuse intelligence with good judgment?
2. Choose your advisors carefully but use your own judgment
3. A person or an organization will survive forever, if they have the 5 Cs
* Character * Commitment * Conviction * Courtesy * Courage
